City Pop emerged from postwar Japan at a moment of rapid cultural exchange. Shaped by Black American music, Caribbean rhythms, and global pop circulation, it reflects a sound formed through movement and influence across borders. These are songs that traveled with people through movement, distance, and everyday life, becoming companions for late nights and long drives through cities and across continents.
For the first installment of our monthly karaoke series, we invite you to step into that lineage: sing along, laugh, and dance to enduring classics like “Plastic Love,” “Ride on Time,” and “Stay With Me.”
Each installment of our karaoke series centers music as cultural conversation, shared memory, and communal joy.
